A firm understanding of accounting is important in many areas of business management.

For one, it is the foundation of tax law, and to that end, if you don’t understand the legal concepts behind accounting, you run the risk of potentially serious tax fines.

Apart from this, accounting is considered the real language of a business. If you know how to interpret a balance sheet, if you understand the basic differences between expenses, costs and payments, and if you comprehend the importance of ratios of credit and solvency, liquidity and so on, you and your business will be well-prepared to interpret and communicate this key information in-house and at important business meetings.
